GitHub Models has strong potential — especially for developers already in the GitHub ecosystem — but it’s unlikely to fully replace domain-specific platforms like Hugging Face in the short term. Instead, they may complement each other, with GitHub handling code and training workflows, and Hugging Face hosting pre-trained, production-ready models and APIs.
