Bug: Manual text selection in Copilot Web UI removes newline characters.

Environment:

• Platform: Copilot Web UI (https://copilot.microsoft.com)
• OS: Windows 11
• Browser: Firefox
• Text editor used for testing: VS Code (likely reproducible in other editors)
• Reproducible: 100%

Steps to reproduce:

1. Generate python, c++ or javascript code block in Copilot Web UI.
   • Note that markdown code block doesn't seem to be affected
2. Select a portion of the code manually with the mouse (do NOT use the “Copy” button).
3. Press Ctrl+C.
4. Paste into VS Code.

Expected behavior:
Newlines should be preserved exactly as displayed in the code block.

Actual behavior:
All newline characters are removed. The pasted text becomes a single line regardless of how it appears in the UI.

Impact:

• Copilot often generates additional explanatory text or surrounding boilerplate around the code the user actually needs.
• Because manual selection collapses newlines, users cannot reliably copy only the relevant portion of the generated code.
• Current workaround: use the “Copy” button to copy the entire block, paste it into a temporary file, and then manually extract the needed lines.
• This slows down workflows involving small, targeted edits (e.g., generating type hints, modifying a single function, or copying a specific snippet).
• The issue discourages using Copilot for incremental or surgical code changes, which are common in real development workflows.

Notes:

• The “Copy” button preserves formatting correctly; the issue affects only manual selection.

• DOM inspection shows animation-related attributes (e.g., variants="[object Object]") being rendered on non-motion elements, which may indicate props leaking into the DOM and interfering with text selection behavior.

• Copilot itself instructed me to post here, even though the category does not seem to fit. Here is what it said:

i have the same issue, its very time consuming to rectify the code where we are pasting it. please resolve
